The benefits of digital signage are well known, however there is one crucial step that must be taken before the technical installation of the signage technology takes place, and this is often overlooked by businesses.
A site survey is an opportunity for a digital signage expert to basically review the entire area that is going to house your business signage technology, and although this is never usually a huge job, it could save money and time in the future.
Any digital signage installer should offer a site survey service, and if you have made the decision to have digital signage installed, that’s great, but you must carefully consider the questions that can be answered in a site survey first:
1. Is the surface strong enough to hold the signage? The strength of the surface that you have chosen for the signage, will be tested in the site survey. Costs will increase once the signage is up, so a site survey will help you work out whether you need to consider a relocate.
2. Where are the cables going to run? Digital signage technology requires cables to feed in and out, and working out where these are going to lie is an important part of the installation. A site survey will allow your installer to assess where the cables will run with minimal disruption. It may be the case that the cables will be more hidden in another location, so a move for the signage will be required – this could all be worked out in the survey.
3. Is the signage location safe? Some big, some small, digital signage takes many forms. A site survey will assess the safety of your signage project, and public security must be a priority for you and your business. Safety is crucial, and a site survey can ensure that no-one is in danger from your digital signage.
